Most parents are unaware that even natural births can stress the baby's spine. There is a tremendous amount of pulling, pushing, forcing, and twisting on the baby's young spine which is just the nature of the delivery process. It's important that parents know what to look for when they bring their baby home. The baby should be able to turn his/her head freely from side to side while breast feeding. If this doesn't occur and the baby is having difficulty feeding from one side, the baby should have a chiropractic check-up.

Since newborns and children often do not have the language to communicate, many experience unexplained crying, colic, ear infections, esophageal reflux in addition to other issues. A chiropractic examination should be performed to find out if the spine and nervous system are involved.

The most common concern with parents is whether the chiropractic adjustment is safe for their newborn or child. Dr. Cree's adjusting techniques for all children are modified for their size and individual spinal issue. The muscular tightness in an infant or child is much less than in an adult, therefore, the amount of force needed to make an adjustment is much less than would be needed for an adult. Actually, there is no more pressure used on the child than you would use to test the ripeness of a tomato. Dr. Cree's adjustment in her office is always gentle, comfortable, and effective.

In the early stages of a child's growth, it is important to be aware of spinal development as the child begins to sit up, crawl, and take his or her first steps. It is believed that many spinal problems in adults began early in life with uncorrected spinal subluxations. Parents must also be careful that aches and pain in a child are not passed off as "growing pains." Children rarely complain of body aches; consequently, special attention should be warranted if they do complain.

Dr. Cree's approach to treating children in her office has always been an educational one. She makes an extra effort to keep up with the latest pediatric chiropractic research. She always make sure every parent is 100% comfortable with her technique and that they understand her treatment plan for their child. Dr. Cree will always make sure your child has the best chance for optimal growth by having a properly functioning nervous system.

"I've been taking my kids to see Dr. Cree since they were newborns. Dr. Cree is a wonderful doctor. She talks AND listens to the kids, and has been attuned to them at all ages and stages of their lives. A trip to her office is a treat my kids look forward to, and is never complete without feeding her dog Bailey a treat and checking out the toys in the playroom. Now that my kids are older, I can also let them play in the playroom while Cree treats me, which makes scheduling a lot easier. Cree has a great outlook on the world. A trip to her office relieves all my aches and pains and makes my day a little happier".
